A Lighter Touch educational forum: Biodiversity in a cropping farm environment

Introducing biodiversity into the cropping farm environment is the focus of the A Lighter Touch educational forum being held at the Pukekohe demonstration farm on Thursday 21 March.
The forum will include classroom and field presentations on the following topics:
- Why a biodiverse landscape is important on farm, the relationship between natural biodiversity and the farming environment, and why it is beneficial from a crop protection perspective
- Benefits of beneficial insects in the system, particularly in relation to pest control
- Improving native biodiversity – details of the A Lighter Touch projects at the demonstration farm, including a field visit
- A grower perspective – a commercial grower will outline their experience of incorporating biodiverse planting into their vegetable farming operation.
The classroom presentations will be available to join online for those not able to attend in person. When registering, please indicate whether you wish to attend in-person or online.
